Driveway cleaning & sealing in Umina Beach
Umina Beach sits on the tip of the Woy Woy peninsula with the Pacific on one side and Brisbane Water on the other — there's no escaping the salt here. It's the most populated pocket on the Coast, and the driveways run the full gamut, from original fibro-cottage slabs to the exposed aggregate on the new Ocean Beach Road rebuilds. We clean them all back and seal them so the finish actually holds.

Built for what the coast does to Umina Beach.
Umina is famous for its sandy soil, and that's exactly what makes its driveways a headache. Fine sand and poor drainage hold moisture against the concrete, so green and black algae take hold fast on anything shaded — north-facing paths and side driveways especially. Being wedged between two bodies of saltwater, homes here cop salt from both directions, and that salt draws damp into the surface long after the rain's gone. Add the older mid-century slabs that were never sealed to begin with, and you get concrete that stains, greys off and turns slippery. A proper clean strips it back; the seal is what stops the sand and salt getting a grip again.
Surfaces we clean & seal around Umina Beach
The driveways we see around here.
Walk the streets off West Street or down toward the Ocean Beach surf club and you'll see the split — tidy renovated cottages next to full knock-down rebuilds, and driveways that range from 1970s plain slabs to fresh aggregate. The older concrete is usually grey, sandy underfoot and streaked with algae down the shaded edge. The newer aggregate looks sharp for a year or two, then dulls off without a seal. Both come up beautifully once they're cleaned properly and locked in.
Umina is right at the heart of our patch, so we're on the peninsula constantly and can slot a clean-and-seal in without a big travel wait.

We treat stubborn stains, re-sand paver joints and let the surface dry properly — the step most skip.
Seal & protect
A premium seal is applied evenly for that deep wet-look finish and years of protection against the elements.
Good to know.
Does Umina's sandy soil make sealing pointless — won't sand just get under it again?+
No — it's the opposite. A sealed surface has no open pores for wind-blown sand and moisture to lodge in, so it sheds the grit and dries out faster. Unsealed peninsula concrete is what traps sand and grows algae. The seal is your best defence here, not a waste of time.
My Umina driveway greens up every winter in the shade. Will a clean fix that for good?+
A clean removes the algae you can see today, but on damp, sandy blocks it'll creep back within a season. Sealing after the clean is what keeps it off — it stops the surface holding the moisture the algae feeds on, so shaded and south-facing driveways stay clean far longer.
